In the spirit of respect, reciprocity and truth, we honour and acknowledge Moh’kinsstis, and the traditional Treaty 7 territory and oral practices of the Blackfoot confederacy: Siksika, Kainai, Piikani, as well as the Îyâxe Nakoda and Tsuut’ina nations. We acknowledge that this territory is home to the Métis Nation of Alberta, Region 3 within the historical Northwest Métis homeland. Finally, we acknowledge all Nations – Indigenous and non – who live, work and play on this land, and who honour and celebrate this territory.
More women than ever are learning to hunt, gather and grow. While we benefit from and appreciate the mentorship and knowledge many of the men in our lives have to offer, HerHarvest is about building a community of women learning more about the great outdoors in ways that make sense to us.
HerHarvest is a place for like-minded people to learn from each other by sharing experiences, knowledge and traditions, especially if we didn’t grow up with mentors to show us the way.
The number of women participating in outdoor pursuits like foraging, urban gardening, hunting and gun dog training is exploding, making now the perfect time to help each other learn more. At the same time, many of us are ready to pass on the gathering and gardening tips and tricks shared with us by mothers, grandmothers and aunties. HerHarvest has one purpose - bringing all of us, and all of our knowledge, together in one place. all are welcome, it just starts with us.
The mission of HerHarvest is to build a strong, active community of people trying to learn more about ethical hunting, foraging and growing.
This is a place where those without traditional knowledge or access to experienced mentors can share what we learn in a supportive environment as we strengthen our connection to the natural world.
